A growing number of A.A. meetings offer a 12-step program for nonreligious people in recovery: agnostics, atheists, humanists or freethinkers.
This article from the New York Times points out the incredible change that is taking place within AA today. The article points out “that even a decade ago, secular meetings were difficult to find, but now there are over 150 AA groups nationally that appeal to humanists, atheists, agnostics”.
